The Park is open from 8:00 am-8:30 pm daily, weather permitting. On Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 am-noon, the park is reserved for children under 12 years of age who are accompanied by a parent. No supervision is provided at the park. Anyone choosing to use the facility must do so at his or her own risk. No bikes or persons not skating are permitted on the skating surface. Rules are posted at the park. Anyone found violating any of the posted rules may be subject to arrest and or fines.

The annual John Sheppard Memorial Skateboard Competition takes place every September. Skateboarders compete for prizes donated by area skate shops in three age groups ranging in age from 12 and under to 18 years. The John Sheppard Memorial Skateboard Competition is a fundraising event to maintain and improve the skate park facility. Food and refreshments are served and spectators fill the park every year to watch this very exciting event.
